Stating that losses for the state transport (ST) corporation were due to irregularities and problems in ticket sales, minister for transport Diwakar Raote on Thursday said that 18,000 ST bus conductors are facing inquiries in this regard and added that the state-of-the-art technology would be deployed by the transport department to save crores of rupees, in addition to bringing in transparency.

Stating that losses for the state transport (ST) corporation were due to irregularities and problems in ticket sales, minister for transport Diwakar Raote on Thursday said that 18,000 ST bus conductors are facing inquiries in this regard and added that the state-of-the-art technology would be deployed by the transport department to save crores of rupees, in addition to bringing in transparency.
He was responding to a call attention motion moved by MLAs Shashikant Shinde, Sunil Prabhu, Sardar Tara Singh, Jayant Patil, and others. Shinde questioned whether the contract with Trimax company for providing ticket vending machines by the ST corporation, resulted in losses for the corporation to the tune of crores of rupees.
Raote added that the state ST Corporation was the first corporation to use state-of-the-art technology for ticketing. He added that this technology would help to keep vigil on every ticket sold, which would result in saving the exchequer about Rs.500 crore by investing just Rs37 crore. He added: "If the losses for the ST corporation are being incurred for the last many years we should wait for some time after implementing this state-of-the-art technology to ascertain the benefits after implementation."
